Support for Military Spouses
Invincible injuries of war scar men and women throughout this country. With infinite bravery, tireless dedication and service to their country, these walking wounded are heroes to us. But now, many struggle just fitting into the PTA, dropping their kids off at practice or shopping at the grocery when all the while putting on a stoic face to promote a “nothing is wrong” attitude. In July, 42 soldiers lost their life in an Afghanistan or Iraq warzone and here in the US back at home, 47 soldiers took their own life.
Not Alone, an organization aimed at helping Soldiers deal with PTSD and depression uses not only internet networking to help support, but is sending counselors out to find these distant souls and bring them back from “no hope”. Not Alone realized it isn’t just the Military Members who can suffer, but their spouses as well. As a result, the organization recently began Just Wait, another program geared to helping those who have lost their way, this time targeting military spouses. The website offers stories of those who attempted to take their own life and offer help to others who may be needing some home.
