Before you go
Before you decide to move from your Island Palm Communities home due to deployment, consider:
How difficult it will be to put your children in a new school, away from their friends
How much it will cost to place your household goods in storage
How much it will cost to store your car or ship it to the Continental U.S. and back to Hawaii
If you give up your Island Palm Community home, will one be available when you re-unite with your spouse in Hawaii? There is no guarantee a home will be available.
Can you afford to live off-post? There are security deposits, utilities and other incidentals that can add up to quite a bit of money.
If you move off-post, will your children be assigned to a new school district?
In addition to Island Palm Communities Deployment Care Package, there are other special benefits for families of deployed Soldiers:
Invite a family member or friend for a extended visit
USAG, Hawaii has authorized families of deployed Soldiers to have up to two guests stay with them in their Island Palm Community home. Simply fill out an Installation Gold Pass Request. Please note it may take up to four weeks for processing and background checks to be completed, so we encourage you to plan ahead.
